Via a spiral staircase, adults walk around the Great Lake Monster to descend to the exhibits. Children (and some adults) prefer to slide down a chute to the monster’s nest in a cave below. Meet your ancestors features a mixture of portraits and mirrors intermingled. These types of interactivities, geared to children, are incorporated throughout the galleries. Contemplative spaces include an area where the story of the oldest tapestries in Europe, dating from the ninth century, is told.
